Award for for former homeless teenager

The award is given to a young person under the age of 25 who has showed great courage in the face of adversity. Eryk was nominated by his key worker at the trust, Rob Paling, who also accompanied him to the event. Eryk has overcome a stage 4 cancer and despite becoming homeless at 17, managed to complete his A levels at School. He is currently in his first year of a BSc Biology at Derby University and would eventually like a role in scientific research. Rob describes Eryk as “an inspiration for young people”.

On 3rd November 2016, the charity We R Here held their Vision Event at Nottingham City Council Chambers. During the event,guestd listened to the personal stories of some of the service users. The Mayor of Gedling, Sandra Barnes then presented the awards. Eryk received an engraved plaque and a cheque for £100. He said that he was “very grateful for the award”.
Hillary Brown, project manager for We R Here commented that it had been an absolute joy to meet Eryk and that he was a remarkable young man.
