Students in our training centre have been learning about the history of crime & punishment in the UK.
We visited the National Justice Museum in Nottingham. During our visit we took part in a mock trial and had an actor led tour of the cells, gallows and exercise yards; experiencing the harsh realities of prison life. We also learned about transportation; when criminals were shipped to Australia. We looked around a replica of what one of the ships would have been like. We were all shocked by the terrible conditions and some of the petty crimes that could have you sent to Australia.
We really enjoyed our visit. Lauren
