Emily has moved on from the Trust after living with us for over 18 months.
I came to live at the Trust in April 2015 after me and my boyfriend split up. To start with I shared a house with another girl, but I was soon moved into my own self-contained flat. I joined the Trust’s City & Guilds Employability Skills training programme and they helped me to update my CV and practice my interview skills, which helped me to get a job. I also took part in lots of activities including mountain biking at Sherwood Pines, Go Ape as well as residential activities at Edale Adventure Centre and a narrow boat trip along the River Trent.
In the Summer I took part in an inflatable obstacle course race to raise funds for Children in Need with my key worker Sam one of the other residents, Joe. We had a great day and raised £185.
I also gained enough confidence to join the Trust’s Publicity Group and took part in visits to schools and churches to talk about my experience of being homeless and as a resident living at the Trust.
I have now moved out of the Trust and am living with my partner and working as a Domestic Assistant at Kings Mill Hospital.
